Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake is a contemporary ballet based on the Russian romantic work Swan Lake, from which it takes the music by Tchaikovsky and the broad outline of the plot. Having said that, one major thing aspiring choreographers can gain from this work is a broadening of horizons, an encouragement to open their eyes to everything around them for inspiration.
